Welcome to the official website of the University of Minnesota Ballroom Dance Club!
If you are new to ballroom dance then we especially want to welcome you! If you're wondering about dancesport, check out our overview of the main dances we do.
The mission of the University of Minnesota Ballroom Dance Club is to create a fun atmosphere for the University of Minnesota and surrounding community to spread our love and knowledge of ballroom dance and create an environment where dancers return year after year. The University of Minnesota Ballroom Dance Club Competition Team aims to extend this passion for ballroom dance onto the competition floor, with all our dancers dancing confidently at the Bronze syllabus level or higher.
Your first two lessons are always free! The club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginner lessons start at 8pm and there's general dance at 8:45pm. To view the full lesson schedule on a calendar, check out the club calendar.
The club is open to anyone, not just students! If you're ever interested, feel free to show up any Tuesday or Thursday at 8pm in the Rec Center, your first two lessons each semester are free! No special clothing, previous experience, or partner is necessary. If you would like to know more about the club, go to our club homepage.
The University of Minnesota Ballroom Competition Team was founded in 2010. Since then we have been steadily growing and improving (currently ranked 3rd in the nation!), and always looking to have fun while doing so. Auditions are held in the fall and spring of each school year, and are open to collegiate dancers of all backgrounds and skill levels. Each semester the team competes in one home competition - Blast in the Fall, Dance Fest in the Spring - and one away competition.
